Tehama County lies approximately midway between Sacramento and the Oregon border. The Sacramento River cuts through the central portion of the county and is one of the largest salmon spawning rivers in the world. Tehama County is the gateway to Lassen Volcanic National Park, one of the few active volcanos on the United States mainland.

Tehama County has three incorporated cities, with the City of Red Bluff as its county seat:
