Begun in 1998, New
Valley Connexions (NVC) is a Great Valley Center program focused on diversifying
the economy of the Valley by providing information on new
technology, clusters and communications infrastructure.
Through reports, conferences and collaborations, NVC
worked to help strengthen and diversify the regional economy
of the Great Central Valley. A number of GVC programs and initiatives are direct spin offs of reports and studies produced under NVC. NVC's strategies include:
- Linking people and agencies in an effort
to seek out synergies that advance the sustainability of
the region
- Promoting the use of new technologies
to increase economic and social capacity
- Supporting regional collaboration to
address economic issues and help create a regional identity
- Facilitating policy development that
incorporates the economic, social and environmental needs
of the Valley
- Helping position the region to be competitive
by building on the Valley's strengths
- Increasing awareness of methods for diversifying
the regional economy to support a good quality of life
