GVC SPRING CONFERENCE: "AT THE TIPPING POINT" MAY 10-11TH, 2006, SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

Former HUD Director Henry Cisneros and Curitaba, Brazil's Jaime Lerner among more than 100 speakers

MODESTO, California, March 1, 2006 - The ninth annual Great Valley Conference will be held May 10 & 11, 2006 in Sacramento, California. The conference is California's largest annual gathering focused on the Central Valley. More than 600 people from throughout the 19 county Central Valley area are expected to attend.

This year’s conference theme is At the Tipping Point. The tipping point is the point after which the rate of change in any process increases dramatically and cannot be influenced or reversed. At every part of California’s Great Central Valley change is happening quickly; if we are to shape the outcome, we have to act now while the window of opportunity is still open.

Keynote speakers include Henry Cisneros, former HUD Secretary and President of Univision, who currently serves as Chairman of American CityVista; Jaime Lerner, architect and city planner and former Mayor of Curitiba, Brazil; and Paul Dolan, Partner, Mendocino Wine Company.

The event offers attendees 5 plenary and more than 45 concurrent sessions and workshops on a variety of topics in the areas of Health, Land Use, Leadership, Technology, Economy, Renewable Energy, Arts & Culture, Agriculture, Environment, Community Building, Land Conservation, Transportation, Youth Development and Cultural Diversity. The conference also features networking opportunities, business exhibits, cultural displays and more.

Early registration is $195. Register on line now at www.greatvalley.org
