California's Partnership to Improve Life in the San Joaquin Valley

- Improving life in the San Joaquin Valley, that was a top priority at today's California partnership meeting. This was the first meeting for the second executive order issued by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The California Partnership aims to improve the economic vitality of the San Joaquin Valley. Members of the partnership looked at over 100 concept proposals submitted by residents across the state on how to improve Valley life.

The biggest issues discussed today ranged from higher education and employment, to land-use and improved transportation.

Connie Conway, Tulare Co Supervisor, says, "It's really the first part. This has been the coming together and the putting together of the Central Valley, so we can present a united front as to why we're a valuable and what we believe the Valley can bring to the table."

Governor Schwarzenegger and the state have designated $5M towards the 18-month mission.
