Leaders in California are currently making public policy decisions that will shape outcomes for decades. The responsibility facing these elected leaders is continually increasing. The Great Valley Leadership Institute provides support to enable participants to better address issues of leadership and to acquire a new frame of reference and improved tools to deal with complex and broad issues.

Considered for participation are bright, motivated elected officials, serving on Boards of Supervisors, City Councils, and School Boards, who have been in office at least one year. The class will include both proven leaders who welcome the opportunity to add a new dimension to their understanding of themselves and further improve their effectiveness; as well as individuals who might be in office for the first time but show great potential to be the standout leaders of tomorrow.

The Institute is an intensive, 4 ½-day experience that will provide you with key insights to help you make the most of your elected position and reach your full leader potential. GVLI provides an unmatched opportunity to access world-renowned faculty from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. This is a rare chance to have West Coast, direct access to distinguished faculty in a small-group atmosphere.
