The grant will go towards purchasing a color printer to print the school's new newspaper.
$1,000 Highland Book Club
Grandparent’s Day
The funds will purchase books to give to children in a project to connect senior citizens in convalescent homes with children in the area by having them visit the convalescent home and read books to the seniors.
$1,000 Kern County Youth Council
Drug Free Youth Summit The grant funds were given as $200 awards to the top five best prevention Action Plans that resulted from our annual Drug Free Youth Summit.
$1,000 Kern Valley Chapter of the California Association FHA-HERO Helping Our Local Community
The grant money will go towards purchasing fabric for adopt-a-sock for needy children at Christmas time, teddy bears for children in assisted care, and comfort caps for cancer patients. The funds will also support other community projects that need it.

Agriculture Literacy
The grant will support the Agriculture Literacy program through a project aimed to educate elementary school children about the importance of agriculture in their community by providing high school students the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills by taking on a techer/educator role in the classroom.
$770 Amargo Dulce Youth Community Garden
Community Garden The funds will support a community garden to increase student involvement in the community and to supplement the food pantry with fresh produce.

Open Mic Night
The funds will help fund the Open Mic Night project for students to share their creativity with the community by performing music, poetry and displaying art. The goal is to promote artistic expression and make a safe place for students expression in a positive way.
$600 Cushine’s Cool Kids of Van Horn
MSNBC (Math and Science Night Because It’s Cool)
The grant will go support a night to show kids how to have fun with math and science.
$477.50 Leaders In Life
Opening and Keynote Speakers The grant funds will aid in bringing inspirational speakers to speak at the Leaders in Life Conference, planned by youth to bring individuals from various races, social economic backgrounds and academic achievement levels together in a positive setting. The purpose of the event is to discuss and evaluate issues that daily face youth.
