This will be a 9th annual heartland event called “The Pick & Gather at Riverdance Farms”, hosted by our local farmers Cindy Lashbrook and Bill Thomson, Community Alliance with Family Farmers, local groups and organizations.

Their beautiful diversified ranch fronts the Merced River and will offer our community a hands-on interactive connection to the land and its natural habitat. It will be a learning experience, helping to educate about our precious regional eco-system and the value of a sustainable land.

This spring event on the ranch will provide a u-pick with an array of organic blueberries and Cherries, local artisans, a farmers market, music, children activities, farm tours, wine tasting and….. over night camping!

The Access Project (www.accessproject.org), a national research and resource center, in partnership with the USDA National Agricultural Statistical Service, has recently completed a survey of 1,700 non-corporate farm and ranch families about the cost of health care. At an interactive community discussion, we will present the findings, including information about the cost and quality of health insurance for California family farm and ranch operations.

CSU, Chico Northern California Local Government Leadership Institute announces that enrollment is now open for the Leadership Development Program, a seven-course series designed to help local government employees cultivate leadership skills and become more effective, proactive leaders and managers. The program will be offered in Chico and Redding.

Chico courses start March 22-23. The Chico cohort will meet on the CSU, Chico campus, Continuing Education building, room 107. Redding courses will start March 29-30. Redding courses will meet at the Redding City Hall Community Room, 777 Cypress Avenue, Redding.
