“Green” means not only a movement, but greenbacks.
Headquartered in a LEED-certified building in San Francisco, New Resource Bank was begun in 2006, according to founder Peter Liu, to “bring the green to the community.” His innovative community bank promotes a sustainable economy and has become one of California’s fastest-growing banks.
Speaking at the Great Valley Center’s 2008 conference in Sacramento, Liu said the idea behind the bank is to “take traditional products and tailor them to green businesses to help them grow.” So, he said, it is important to deliver a green business product as good as what consumers are used to and is also a way of marrying “a social movement with a market opportunity,” taking advantage of technological advances that have changed everything we do, from using the internet to growing strawberries. “Green momentum,” he said, “is accessible to the Central Valley.”
