Patrick J. Fox, Ph.D., M.S.W. is Co- Director, Institute for Health & Aging and Professor of Sociology and Health Policy, Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. He received his Master of Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, his Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of California at San Diego, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from the University of California at San Francisco where he was also a Pew Health Policy Scholar. He has written numerous reports and articles on the delivery of community-based long-term care services to the elderly, the history of Alzheimer's disease and the emergence of the Alzheimer's disease social movement, the economic costs of disease, and breast and cervical cancer screening. He has served as consultant to the Alzheimer's Association, The California Wellness Foundation, the Sierra Health Foundation, the California Health Care Foundation, and the California Department of Health Services.
