Biography: James F. Rodgers
Executive Director
Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Stockton

Since June of 2001, Jim Rodgers has been the Executive Director of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Stockton, serving six counties in the Northern San Joaquin Valley and Central Foothills with elder care and affordable legal immigration services. Jim came to the position as a native of the region with a thirty-year career in the Catholic Charities network. His work has included direct service, public policy advocacy and community development with prisoners, victims and their families as well as administration in human resources and strategic planning with Catholic Charities of the East Bay. During that time, he achieved a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco. Before coming to Stockton, he worked for five years as Executive Director of Catholic Charities in the twenty northeastern California counties comprising the Diocese of Sacramento. Jim is a fourth generation Californian, descended from the great Portuguese immigration to the Central Valley in the late nineteenth century. He was born and raised in Vallejo “when it was the foot of the Delta and the Bay Area was somewhere you went”. He is married to another native Californian whose Italian family has settled in the North Valley and they are raising a fifth generation Californian at their home in Davis.
