Biography : Bill Blackburn

Mr. Blackburn has more than ten years of experience working at the California Energy Commission in the Transportation Technology Office. At the Energy Commission he has managed numerous projects relating to the development and commercialization of alternative fuel vehicles, including ones that operate on methanol, ethanol, natural gas, hydrogen and electricity.

In 1996, Mr. Blackburn was selected as a Natural Resources Fellow with the University of California, Davis. During the fellowship, he co-authored a paper on waste biomass-to-ethanol in California. He has also published numerous papers on alternative fuel infrastructure issues, battery electric vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles.

As an Energy Specialist he is currently working with the California Fuel Cell Partnership, a public/private effort to help commercialize this technology. At the Fuel Cell Partnership, he sits on the working group and is active on various sub-groups, including a fuel cell roadmap study, safety and the transit bus demonstration. Mr. Blackburn is also co-writing the transportation portion of the Energy Commission’s Integrated Energy Policy Report. Mr. Blackburn received a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from California State University, Sacramento.
