Biography : Andy Horne

Andy Horne is the Imperial Irrigation District Director for Division 1, which includes El Centro, and part of Calexico.

Horne was elected to the IID Board in 1998, and was recently re-elected to a second term on the Board. He served as the Board’s Vice President in 2000, and as President in 2001. Horne also serves on the Board’s Power, Public Affairs and Information Technology committees, as well as on the Boards of a number of regional organizations including the Colorado River Water User’s Association, the Southern California Water Committee, the California Farm Water Coalition, and as President of the Salton Sea Authority.

A life-long Imperial Valley resident, Horne graduated from Central Union High School in El Centro, and received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California at Riverside.

Prior to his election to the Board, Horne worked as a real estate broker for Niel Horne Real Estate in El Centro, and still maintains a management role with that firm.

As an active member of his community, Horne is a member and past president of The El Centro Chamber of Commerce, the El Centro Rotary Club, and the Imperial Valley Board of Realtors. He also served as a trustee for the McCabe Union School District from 1987 to 1991. Horne is married, with three grown children, and is a resident of rural El Centro.
