Richard Cummings Committee considers next 50 years for the state's fastest growing region MODESTO (November 28, 2007) - Representatives from the eight counties of the San Joaquin Valley will meet next Monday to continue discussion on regional planning recommendations for the next 50 years. The San Joaquin Valley Blueprint Regional Advisory Committee (BRAC) meeting will be Monday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UC Merced Terrace Center at 5200 N. Lake Road in Merced. The BRAC consists of 65 voting members who represent various sectors and interests of the regional community. BRAC members are working towards the creation of a regional vision to ensure that California's fastest growing region will thrive into the 21st century as part of the San Joaquin Valley Blueprint Process. The Monday BRAC meeting will feature speakers on topics pertaining to regional planning issues and will include interactive sessions for the BRAC members. The Blueprint process will produce a regional San Joaquin Valley preferred scenario that will express goals for regional collaborative planning, economic development, efficient land use patterns, transportation infrastructure, and environmental planning. The San Joaquin Valley Blueprint Planning Process is a joint effort of the Council of Fresno Governments, the Kern Council of Governments, the Kings County Association of Governments, Madera County Transportation Commission, the Merced County Association of Governments, San Joaquin Council of Governments, Stanislaus Council of Governments, the Tulare County Association of Governments and the Great Valley Center. The funding for the Blueprint process is provided by the Business, Transportation & Housing Agency through the California Department of Transportation, as well as the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution District. |
