State Highway 99 Corridor in San Joaquin Valley Designated A Last Chance Landscape

What is a Last Chance Landscape? click here to find out

While Highway 99 has been the key economic and transportation corridor of the San Joaquin Valley, it also represents a common thread of history and culture to the people and communities of the region. However, in recent decades, it has gradually become more like the Valley's "back alley" than its "main street." Today, Highway 99 projects an image that reveals little of the historic significance, strong community pride, and growing innovative economy of the region.

The Highway 99 Task Force is developing a cohesive approach to transform 280 miles of the Highway 99 corridor into a truly compelling "Main Street of the San Joaquin Valley." By working together, leaders across the region can showcase the unique history and innovative economics of each community, while creating an overall image of the Valley as an attractive place to live and work, and one with a promising future.
